HonorBridge has a dedicated team of professionals committed to serving our hospital partners. Here are some of the positions you may encounter in your healthcare facility.
Donation Services Coordinator (DSC)
The DSC is the person you’ll speak with when you call to make your referral. They are responsible for collecting and screening information to determine tissue donation potential.
Family Support Coordinator (FSC)
The FSC is the person who will walk through the donation process with the family of a donor. They will request authorization, explain the process, ask and answer questions, and sit with the family as they consider donation. FSCs can help families say goodbye to their loved ones with special ceremonies and personalized gifts for the family. They provide information, care, and comfort throughout the donation process.
Hospital Liaison (HL)
The HL assists hospitals with education, process improvement, and support for our hospital staff. Find your assigned liaison here.
Organ Donation Coordinator (ODC)
The ODC evaluates an organ referral for eligibility. They are responsible for medically managing the organ donor. They allocate organs in cooperation with UNOS and they attend the recovery in the operating room.
Surgical Recovery Coordinator (SRC)
The SRC assists the transplant recovery team in the operating room. They are responsible for preparing donated organs for transportation to transplant centers.
Surgical Tissue Specialist (STS)
The STS is responsible for the recovery of tissues for transplant. These recoveries happen after organ recovery for donors who give both organs and tissues. The recovery often happens away from the hospital, in HonorBridge’s facility. After recovery, STS coordinates transportation to the funeral home.
